Big John will always stand out in my memory as a shining light, he filled the room with joy and made everyone feel welcome. He taught me how to swim in the ocean as a child, when to jump up over the wave and when to dive through. I will miss him.

I will always remember John, with his great smile, and sincere and gracious personality, at many of the Maryland Sigma Chi alumni events. He will be deeply missed by us all.

John--truly one of the "good guys"-- so sorry for his suffering and pain, but he was always so gracious even to the end. John definitely will be missed. I hope there is a big Terps fan club "in the sky". (I still remember John and Vicki's wedding when the preacher said, "Take her, son, she's all yours!"). Those who live on in the hearts of others never really die. John will definitely live on.

I loved John and I will miss him. He was a champion for many entities (Maryland and Sigma Chi, for example), but what made him so special is that he was a champion for individuals. He was supportive and positive throughout his life.
