John Schaefer Obituary

John "Jack" Schaefer was a loving and devoted husband, father, Grampy, and friend. He passed away peacefully on October 13, 2024 at the age of 85 surrounded by loved ones.
Jack was a Native Washingtonian who grew up an only child in Bethesda, Maryland. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes School and Georgetown Preparatory School where he was a standout athlete in both baseball and football.
After graduating from high school, Jack married the love of his life, Barbara McInteer Schaefer. He took over his father's auto supply company, Schaefer Auto Supply which he sold in 2000. He spent his retirement years enjoying his home in Marco Island, FL, as well as his home in Gaithersburg, MD, where his adoring grandchildren reside. For several years, Jack was a dedicated volunteer at Children's National Hospital in DC.
Jack is survived by his children Meri Schaefer, Patti Beisner, Michael Schaefer, and Jennifer Manion, and six grandchildren. He will be missed by his dog Cookie. Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara McInteer Schaefer and their son, Ricky.
A celebration of life will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kensington, MD on Saturday, November 2 at 1 p.m.
In loving memory of Jack, we invite contributions to Children's National Medical Hospital in Washington, DC. https://foundation.childrensnational.org/
