JOHN FREDERICK THORNETT  
John Frederick Thornett passed away peacefully on December 9, 2021, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Cynthia, their two devoted daughters, Michele (Justin) and Lyndsey (Edward), and five cherished grandchildren, Oliver, William, Hazel, James and Everly. He also is survived by two wonderful brothers, Robert and Michael, and four daughters from a previous marriage, Kristen, Tracy, Courtney and Kerry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Geoffrey, his sister, Anne Miller Haack, and his brother, Richard.  Fred was a third generation Washingtonian. He was born and raised in Washington, D.C., and attended Gonzaga College High School and Georgetown University Dental School. He served as a dentist in the Navy and then was in private practice in Washington, D.C., and Potomac, Maryland, for over 50 years. Fred loved coaching sports of all kinds and playing golf with his lifelong buddies. He also enjoyed music, art, reading, traveling and fine dining. Above all, he treasured his family. He will be greatly missed. A service will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at 1 p.m., at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Bethesda, Maryland.
