Died at INOVA Fairfax Hospital on October 25, 2006 as a result of complications of a stroke. He was born February 21, 1932 in Minneapolis, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Walter and Donald; and sister Mary Jurek. He is survived by three sisters, Anne Nordvik of Foley, MN, Juell Heggem of Maple Plain, MN, and Helen Bennett of Prescott, AZ; in addition to many nieces and nephews. He graduated from Georgetown Law School and served in the US Government for 40 years. He retired in September 2005 from the EEOC. John requested his body be donated to Georgetown Medical School. There will be no memorial service at this time. Next spring, Georgetown will be holding a memorial service for family and friends whose loved ones have chosen to be donors. Notification to John's family and friends of that service will be made when the date is finalized.
