Son of Jose Simon Bertran and Flora Maria Lamar of Camaguey, Cuba. Graduate of the University of Havana school of Medicine Internship At Mt Sinai Hospital, Miami Beach, Florida. Residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami , Florida. Practiced Internal medicine in the Washington, DC area on staff at Saint Elizabeth Hospital, Group Health Association and in private practice in Arlington and Falls Church, Virginia. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sylvia Rodriguez Bertran; and his children, Dr. Jorge L. Jr. and Pilar Bertran of Key Biscayne, FL, Silvia and Dr. Jorge L. Campana of Oakton, VA and Josephine and Kevin Delaney of Herndon, VA; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and his brother, Jose R. Bertran of Miami, FL. Visitation: Fairfax Memorial Park Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Rd., Fairfax, VA 22032 tel; 703-425-9702, Friday, December 5, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass: Saint Leo the Great Catholic Church, Fairfax, VA, Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11 a.m.Burial immediately after the Mass at Fairfax Memorial Park.www.fmfh.com
