There are no words that express the sorrow we feel for the family. It was always a joy to have Joe visit. He always was humble and appreciative of anything done for him. Celi & Joe had finally found total joy and happiness ...and now it is time for .....we will have to wait and see what God has planned!! May God Bless you with a peace that only he can give and my you dwell on the great times you had together.

Matt was my best friend as a child, and Joe was his father. Through the eyes of a child, Mr. Gaffney/Joe was the type of "cool" dad all other kids wanted as their dad. Whether it be playing computer games (Atari, Commodore, Apple, etc...), the love of food, crabs, beer, sports cars...Joe was a great adult figure person. You only had to turn the front door knob to see just how open the family was to everyone especially neighbors. The door was never locked!!!
Now that I'm almost 30 years older since then, I can remember and appreciate even more the kindness and neighborly love he showed towards everyone.
My only regret is in not keeping in touch with the Gaffney's more as I got older. I always assumed I'd have more time to hopefully enjoy one last 'crab feast' with my neighbor Joe, and this time, not as a child (me) to a neighbor (Joe), but as equals and as adults. Alas, that is not to be. So Joe, you are in my prayers and I hope that you can hear me when I say, "My I be as good a friend, parent and neighbor as you were". You are dearly missed by your former Coles Chance neighbor...
With eternal admiration and neighborly love,
Andrew Ma
