I just learned of Cam's passing after paging through the Spring '17 alumni news from RIT. I first crossed paths with Cam at the School of Printing in 1982 (in a Flexography lab, he accidentally drenched me in ink), and later spoke with him while he was at TC/Vertis West Sacramento (and I was at Paradise Post Printing in Paradise). Having lived in Sacramento since the mid 80's, I regret not reaching out to Cam when he was at Vertis in West Sacramento. I hope that, for whatever the reason, he's found peace, and that his family has found solace from their unexpected loss.

Cam was my boss at TC Lane/Valassis in Durham, NC. in the late 90's. Great friend and the best boss I ever had. Sad to see such a good man depart.

RIP my friend . You'll always be remembered by your sense of humor and a good natured man. You definitely taught me alot at TC Lane ( Valassis ) and you always had respect for me since I was at one time the only woman on the press. Those were some great times in our younger years. Prayers go out to your family. God bless you all.

I'm shocked and saddened by the news of Cam's passing. I worked with Cam for a short time at Vertis. My condolences for your great loss.

I had the honor of working with Cam for 10 out of the 19 years that I worked for Vertis. From day one I was impressed with his intelligence, communication style and his people skills. Once I got to know him better I enjoyed his sense of humor, sarcasm and quick wit. Even when he wasn't trying to be funny he just was! As a colleague and a friend, Cam was always very supportive, encouraging and kind. His almost daily pep-talks at the office with his guidance and suggestions helped me become a better manager. When I left Vertis to pursue a new career opportunity Cam and I remained friends over the years and corresponded via text, email and an occasional phone call. The conversations were always centered around what our kids were doing. I, like so many others have already mentioned, got to hear updates about Rae's gymnastic accomplishments, her acceptance into UC Davis and most recently her acceptance into the UC Davis Veterinary school. I also received updates on Riley's acceptance into Cal Berkeley, his internship at the College newspaper which included links to various articles he had written, and then securing a great job after college doing what he loves. Cam was so obviously proud of his family and even though he said he didn't like to brag, he did brag and it was okay. I remember an email I sent to Cam bragging about my daughter Jenna getting accepted into Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. His response was Has Jenna discovered Schnapps and quarters yet? My response to him was That was our era, they are into beer and beer pong now. Fast forward to last year when Cam was the guest of honor at our Quarterly Vertis breakfast. It was shortly after he left Quad Graphics and we encouraged him to join us and we were all so happy that he did. The picture of that day was recently posted on Facebook. I know that Cam will be watching over his family as they continue with their lives without him. My deepest and sincere condolences to Tina, Riley and Rae. Rest in peace my friend, you will be sorely missed.

PICK UP!! That is what Buss yelled out to when he saw me or picked up the phone these past 30 plus years of a bonded forever friendship. Buss laughter would put tears in my eyes and Buss could warm my heart in a instant. I first met Buss working at the Irish Inn where I was the bus boy and he was the short order cook. Yes my friend we came a long way. We had trips to the beach, drinking nights out, ski trips and great long talks. Boy was he proud of his family and I use to stalk Bus on Facebook admiring what he was doing and who he was. We shared kid stories, wife stories and oh yes we BOTH have been HUGE friends of the TV series SURVIVOR. We often would email or give a call before or after a Survivor series. Like most of you I am still in shock and I deal with this lost by inhaling all my nice memories of my friend. My heart goes out to the family and anybody who shared time with 1 of the kindest people I have had the honor to spend time with. Too soon buddy and I love you CAM - PICK UP!!!

I was fortunate to have both worked for and worked with Cam at Vertis for 11 years. Over that time we celebrated both at work and in our personal lives many happy memories of our families. His pride for his kids will always stand out in my memories. I will never forget when Rae made that awesome cake for one of our clients. When he rallied all of us to help spread the word and vote for Rae to get the grant to build the dog park and when he would talk sports and politics and pride of Riley's passion. I will forever be grateful for our friendship and our arguments as I think our disagreements allowed for our friendship to grow over the years. My prayers are with you Tina, Rae and Riley

I send my deepest condolences to the McAtee family. Cam hired me for my first real job out of college at Vertis. As I was a sports fan and someone who was a student of history, Cam and I had an instant connection. Every morning I looked forward to the team meetings at Vertis because I new I would be able to start my morning off with a great laugh courtesy of Cam. When I came back to visit at Vertis, Cam and I talked sports for over an hour when he informed me of his son Riley getting a job at Grantland (now The Ringer). I am a huge fan of Riley's work. He was always immensely proud of his family. I was lucky to call him my boss, but I was blessed to call him a friend and mentor.

My father also had the privilege to know Cam working with him at Thunder Valley. Both of us were devastated to learn of his passing. But I will always be overcome with joy when I think about Cam. He was a man who was truly kind and unique individual that the world was fortunate to have. Unfortunately we will be out of town for his celebration of life. I will think of him the rest of my life and try my best to continue his legacy of generosity and kindness. Peace and love!

So sorry to hear of Cam's untimely death. He and I knew each other since kindergarten/1st grade at Burnt Mills Elementary School in Silver Spring, MD. We played football and basketball after school, and got in trouble together as young adolescents. We had a chance to connect via FB over the years, and I loved that he posted endearing photos of his lovely wife, wonderful son and daughter, and his two dogs. God bless, my thoughts and prayers to the entire McAtee family...
