I was just remembering Joe and hoping somehow he would still be alive and I could see him in his restaurant. I used to go to his smaller place in oxon hill in the 60´s and 70´s. He was always very nice to me despite my elbow length hair (on a guy). We kidded around a lot. I miss those times and wish I could relive some. I know this is 14 years late but condolences to the family. I am sure that his warm heart is greatly missed.

I just today learned of the passing of your Dad. My sincere and deepest condolences. Pistone's gave me the opportunity to make some very lasting friendships thru the Fun Bunch and the great piano bar. One day I loaned your Dad my Diana Krall cd; from that time on, he became a great fan of hers. He will be sorely missed my many.

Joe Pistone allowed us musicians and singers to use his lounge on Sundays for over a decade. Nights and Sunday afternoons at Pistone's Italian Inn were the best of times. Joe was a gracious host and good freind who truly cared for his patrons. His passing leaves a void in my heart.

Although I never had the opportunity to know Joe well, I always enjoyed visiting Pistones on my trips back to DC. Joe was always so gracious and I found Pistones to be a warm, fun, and safe environment - a tribute to it's owner. I know that Joe will be missed by so many.

To Anna Marie, Telly and Richard, my sincerest condolences on the loss of your father. Many of us cared for and admired him. Throughout his illness he was always gracious and exemplified courage in the face of adversity. Our concern for him was only outshone by his concern for others. He did such good for so many people. He was there for me when I lost my Dad years ago. He was such a good friend. Joe, I will never forget you and will always miss that little tug on the back of my hair that let me know you were behind me. What a tremendous loss for all.

Dear friend Joe, you will be missed. I am thankful for your friendship and gracious hospitality for 15 years. We shared a love of poodles (is there any other breed?) and you always made my visiting family and friends feel at home. Thanks for so many wonderful memories; I'll cherish them and your friendship always. Jack and I send our deepest sympathy to your family.

Papa Joe,
Thanks for the opportunity to know you, your restaurant and the venue for music you provided for us Wannabees. My family celebrated many occasions in your dining room, and I personally enjoyed your piano lounge. Start a Pistone's in heaven and "Tell them I'll be there!" RIP Joe!

Joe, So many times we have broken bread together whether our home, your home or your wonderful restaurant. Many talks we shared about everything, life in general. You were like a brother to me. I met the love of my life , John, in your restaurant whom I later married and you so graciously shared that memorable day with us.
You were and still are a great asset to the community and will be missed by all.
May you rest in peace. Our prayers go out to Anna Marie, Richard and Telly, and of course Rusty.

My husband and I were so sad to hear about Joe's passing. Joe was a wonderful friend to my parents, Tony & Pat, who met him and Marie in the 60's, and they had remained good friends ever since. When any of my family members would visit the restaurant, Joe greeted us with a warm welcome and made everyone feel special. He was a kind and generous man and he will be greatly missed by all. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family.

--So sad, the death of Joe Pistone. His absence will leave a void at his restaurant. He fostered quite a venue for enjoyment.
I recall one evening about 4 years ago, he considerately presented we lounge patrons with a crab dinner, gratis.
We'll all certainly miss him.

I so enjoyed going to Pistone's to dance and listen to the music - it was a great and warm place for friends to get together to just have a good time - Joe always made sure it was safe for a single lady to sit, enjoy the music and dancing, and have a drink. I'll miss you, Joe. My sympathy to you, Anne Marie - and Telly - I know you will miss your father.

Joe was a wonderful & personal friend. Pistone's Italian Inn holds a special place in my heart as I met so many wonderful, caring & happy people there, including my former hubby, Jerry Blankenship (expired July 4, 2001). When Jerry & I would return north for visits, we always went to PISTONES. Jerry started THE FUN BUNCH @Pistones. Jerry couldn't sing, but he truly loved the piano bar. My sympathy & prayers to all the family.

Joe Pistone has long suppored live music and was the first to be inducted into the NVPLA Hall of Fame for his contributions to the music scene (in Northern Virginia) for over 20 years. May Pistone's Sunday "Jam" Sessions live on, in his memory. I will never forget you, my friend. May you rest in peace.

Joe was a wonderful friend, and source of encouragement to Linda and I. His warm and friendly personality was a constant reminder of the words of another "Joe" (Joseph Gardner) who so eloquently reminded us to "Spread the Roses In The Path of the Living". Joe Pistone succeeded at that each and every day. We miss him.

Joe was one of a kind, a unique individual who contributed so much to the music scene in Northern VA and enjoyed it as much, if not more, than his hundreds of patrons who shared his love of music. Many of those patrons became his friends and know that, as the song says, "there will never be another you". My deepest sympathy to Anne Marie and Richard.

Joe Pistone will be missed by so many people from the DC area and well beyond. I was fortunate to be told of Joe's wonderful restaurant and piano bar in 2002, and have been privileged to enjoy music and sing there each year since then. Joe would always remember me on my once or twice a year visits to Northern Virginia, and often would remind the piano bar musician that I was a singer. I was touched by the clippings on the wall showing his wonderful love of animals, especially dogs. Joe was unique, and many of us will always remember him fondly.
