To the Holman Family:
Justin was a genuine pleasure to work with. His quiet leadership and good nature were attributes that all of us would do better to follow. He was taken from us far too quickly, but the world is a better place because we got to know him.
Sincerely,

Dear Holman Family,
My deepest sympathy goes out to you at the loss of Justin. During this time of loss, we also celebrate Justin’s short life. He spent his high school years with us in the Chavez High School and we remember him with much love and respect. We were privileged to have him as an important member of our school community.
I remember him vividly as the lead vocal of the school band performing Bob Marley’s “Buffalo Soldiers.” to rousing applause. He was full of energy and happiness sharing song with us. One of his former teachers sent the following to me:
“You must be grieving and leading the Chavez community in honoring the life of a good man--courageous, giving, independent, experimental, kind. My thoughts are with you, Justin's friends and family, and the Chavez Schools during this difficult time.”
Indeed, we are grieving over the loss of a good man.
Thank you for sharing Justin with us. He will be deeply missed.

Dear Holman/Bass Families:
I just received the sad news of your loss. As a teacher, Justin was one of those students who made me excited to come to work. He was funny, inquisitive, perceptive, and, most importantly, always kind to his fellow students (and teachers). He was truly a talented, good hearted young man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Lisa, Kwasi, and Camille: I can never imagine how deep the hole in your hearts must be. But I promise you this. We serve a really big God, and somehow He'll restore your peace and help find purpose in this awful pain. I am grateful for the beautiful memory of Justin picking Lisa and I up from the airport in August as we returned from the NABJ Convention in Chicago. He was so kind to take me home. There was much joy and hope that day, as he warmly smiled at my amazement at how he'd grown into such a handsome young man. I teased about the hair on his face and all the hair on his head! He laughed at how we old folks always are surprised that kids grow up. He took me to my destination in the car he was very proud of, carried my bags into the house, and gave me a loving hug goodbye. He agreed with me, when I told him he'd been raised right. Lisa, you know we share our kids, all born very close to one another. I too grieve his loss, but more than that, I celebrate his life and all his living has yet to contribute to ours. God bless you all during this very difficult time. I wish you Peace, and I'll be there after the "fried chicken stops coming to the back door." KC

Eternal rest grant unto him and let perpetual light shine upon him, may he rest in peace, amen. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace, amen.
The joy of Justin's memory will last far longer than the pain and sorrow now felt at his passing.
