Took possession of his heavenly mansion May 2, 2005. Keith and Helen have been members of Parkway Baptist Church since their arrival in Knoxville 17 years ago. Keith was fondly remembered for reciting the Christmas story from memory during the Christmas village celebration each year. He also had the opportunity to recite it in Bethlehem on a Holy Land trip in 1987. Keith was a leader in every church of which he was a part. He served on the leadership team at Parkway until recently and routinely led Sunday services at the Heritage Assisted Living facility. The regulars to these services often referred to him as "pastor". In many churches he served as a deacon, often as chairman, including chairman at the International Baptist Church of Brussels. He was also part of the volunteer staff at the EuroFest'75 Billy Graham crusade in Brussels Belgium. When a heart murmur prevented him from being drafted, he requested a special waiver that enabled him to serve his country and was sent to Europe as part of the 47th medical unit during WW II. He graduated with a Master of Science degree from the University of Kentucky in 1948. He worked with the U.S. Department of Agriculture completing his career as Senior Economist for the U.S. Foreign Agriculture Service. He traveled to more than 50 countries representing the USFAS including an assignment as the acting attache for the US Embassy in Brussels from 1974 to 1976. Keith is survived by his wife of 62 years Helen. He leaves his three children LaVonna (Robert) Johnson, Donna (Ronald) Yates and Dale (Susan) Vice. He had four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be 7 p.m., Thursday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Rev. Lindy Apon officiating. Family and friends will meet and leave Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel at 1:15 P.M. Friday and proceed to Tennessee Veterans' Cemetery for interment at 1:30 p.m. with full military honors presented by Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard. Family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel, 6200 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919.
