Gerald Eugene Morris died on February 23, 2026, at Montrose, Colo., at the age of 92. Born at Owensboro, Ky., he lived most of his life in Ohio. He earned degrees from University of Kentucky and Murray State University, and served as an educator in the military, and at the high school and college levels. He served honorably in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War.
He was active in historic preservation, having painstakingly researched and restored an early American homestead from the pioneer era in southern Ohio. He was a gifted gardener, baker, linguist, and raconteur, and an avid horseman, ice skater, and skier.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Priscilla Alden (Alley) Morris, and his parents Edgar Morris, and Clareen (Hunt) Morris. Survivors are his son Bennet Alden Morris, his wife Sandra L. Morris, their daughter Abigail, and several cousins.
