Joseph “Joe” Morris, 82, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, in Jackson.
Born on March 2, 1943, in Wilmington, Joe lived a life defined by quiet strength, steadfast devotion to his family, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the natural world. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962.
Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna Jean Morris. Their marriage was a partnership grounded in love, faithfulness, and shared values, and together they built a home filled with warmth and steady guidance.
He is survived by his two sons, Andrew Morris, his wife Nickie, and their daughter, Caroline; and James Morris and his wife Jennifer. Joe took immense pride in his family and especially treasured his role as grandfather to Caroline.
Those who knew Joe will remember his dry wit, gentle presence, and the quiet warmth he brought into every room. He found peace and purpose in nature, spending countless hours hiking wooded trails and exploring new landscapes during his travels. His love for the outdoors reflected the way he lived his life — with curiosity, gratitude, and a deep respect for the world around him.
In honor of Joe’s memory and his lifelong commitment to causes close to his heart, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to High Desert Humane Society (https://highdeserthumane.org/) as Joe and Donna Jean spent many wonderful hours volunteering in their thrift shop.
