Kenneth H. Godstrey of Bowie, MD, 91, passed away on September 16, 2025, in Annapolis, MD.
Ken leaves behind his beloved wife of 69 years, Barbara, and was a cherished brother to his sister, Patricia David. Ken was an amazing, devoted father to his sons, Kenneth, Steven (Brenda), Scott (Dede), and Michael. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Steven, Caitlin (Brett), Kerri, Carly, and Danny (Becca), and great-grandfather to Wesley, Peyton and Kaiden. Ken was the beloved Uncle to James (Fina) David and Robin (Dean) Chriest. Ken was predeceased by his parents, Miriam and Kenneth Godstrey, and his grandson, Christopher Godstrey.
Born on September 21, 1933 in Englewood, NJ, Ken was very active at Ridgefield Park High School where he was elected class president. After graduation, Ken attended Admiral Farragut Academy for one year and was then selected to attend the United States Naval Academy.
Ken was a proud and active alumnus of the USNA arranging class reunions and events for many years. Graduating with the class of 1956, Ken chose to enter the United States Air Force and was trained as a navigator and computer programmer. Ken dedicated 20 years of service to the USAF, including a tour in Vietnam from 1968-1969 where he was recognized for his involvement in multiple campaigns and was honored with a Bronze Star. Throughout his career, Ken was posted to the Strategic Air Command Offutt AFB, the Pentagon and HQ Pacific Air Command at Hickam AFB. Ken retired as a MAJOR in 1976 but remained involved with his squadron planning many reunions and events.
Above all Ken treasured spending his time with family and his many friends from Ridgefield Park NJ, Bowie MD, the USNA, the USAF, the 384th Air Refueling Squadron, the Shorewood community in Cape Canaveral and many others. Ken welcomed all with a warm smile and an endless supply of stories and jokes. Loving, dedicated, smart, funny and humble, he was a bright, warm light that brought immense joy to all that knew him, and he will be missed by all. No immediate memorial services are planned, a celebration of life will take place at a later date to be determined. Ken was a 100% disabled veteran so In lieu of flowers please give generously to Disabled American Veterans, The
