KYLE ROBERT WILSON, who became a firefighter to save the lives of others, died on Monday, April 16, 2007, while battling a house fire in Woodbridge. He was 24 years old and lived with his brother, Chris in Manassas.
Kyle was born in Olney, Maryland on May 25, 1982, and grew up in Prince William County. He graduated from CD Hylton High School in 2000 and graduated from George Mason University in 2005, with a degree in athletic training. He joined the Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue in January 2006, graduating from the Academy on June 23, 2006.
Kyle's love of sports shone on the baseball field. He was awarded the Most Valuable Defensive Player Award at CD Hylton High School where he showed his leadership both on and off the field. He continued to play even after high school and was a member of two adult softball leagues in the County.
Kyle was an ultimate performer. Everything he did, he did with drive and determination. Whether he was on the baseball field or on the fire truck, he was totally committed to the team and the goal. Kyle deeply loved his family and was dedicated to both his family and friends. Everyone who knew Kyle will remember his warm smile, kind heart and sensitive yet fun-loving personality. He will always remain a hero to all he touched.
Kyle is survived by his parents Bob and Sue, brother Chris and sister Kelli of Dale City, the love of his life Kristi Silor of Montclair, maternal grandparents Charles and Lorraine Jackson of Berlin, Maryland, and numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Emmor Robert Wilson and Dorothy Jane Jones. Kyle also leaves behind the brothers and sisters of the Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue.
The family will receive friends at MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Golansky Blvd. Woodbridge VA., on Friday, April 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Nissan Pavilion on Saturday, April 21 at 4 p.m. To offer condolences go to:

With our deepest sympathy, to the Wilson Family. Today is the first day that my family the Alston's have learned of Kyle's passing.
We are proud and pleased to have known Kyle, Kelli, Chris, Sue and Bob and called them "friends."
Your wonderful Spirit shall continue to be with each of us as we remember, your smile, and the joy you gave to others. (It's bottom of the 7th - Kyle's at bat, he has a full count 3 & 2, with bases loaded and two outs. Bob calls for a time out. Kyle looking confident, returns to the plate. Then it happen, Bob had asked Kyle to make a squeeze (bunt). Game over run scores from 3rd, Yankee's win Kyle goes to heaven.
May God Bless your family and keep them secure in the promise of Jesus.

To the Wilson Family, my deepest sympathy in the lost of your son. I never met Kyle, but I have always had a great respect for Fireman, and am always sadden when one is lost. My nephew is a fireman and I have had many friends who were firemen. I know for people who choose this career it is more then a job, it is a passion in them to do it. To me your son was a HERO.

THe Wilson Family,
I remember Kyle from how funny he used to be around us when me and Kelli would play ball together when we were younger. I have never heard anyone praise their big brother like Kelli did when she was little. I hope that you know I am thinking about you all. Kelli and Kristi please know that my prayers are with you.

I never knew Kyle personally, but I remember him in passing at Station 12. I stopped by the station when the renovations were finally done just a few short months ago making my rounds to hang up informational flyers. The station was still not back in order, as far as office supplies were concerned and I needed a pair of scissors. After asking around a bit, I ran into Kyle and he happily found a pair of scissors for me. He also helped me hunt around the station for scotch tape, which we never found. Though this memory seems so simple, it's proof of the kind of person Kyle was. Always helpful. I'll never forget this or his friendly smile. He's a true hero. To the Wilson Family, thank you for sharing Kyle with us. It was an honor to serve our community along side Kyle.

Sue -
When I heard about Kyle I cried. When I saw your photo on the front page of the Manassas Journal Messenger, my heart broke. I worked with you at Potomac Hospital several years back and remember you talking proudly of your kids.
Kyle was a wonderful young man and my prayers are with you and your family.

Please know that my heartfelt thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Memories of such a vibrant young man will help in your healing as will the open arms of all those whose lives he has touched. A tear rolled down my cheek as I was told the new early Monday
Kyle gave his life the ultimate sacrifice he could pay
It has been said repeatedly that the good die young
A man whose life had merely just begun
But always remember God loves us a ton
And do not fear the location of your son
By mid morning I can picture him as he reaches the gates high above
Being greeted by those who were lost, but we still love
Peering down from the clouds by early afternoon
Catching those who mourn his life which was taken too soon
By night fall his wings will be fitted and an angel he will be
And his presence around, you will soon start to see
Your lives will never be the same, but always remember what I say
It was a hero immortalized on April 16th Kyle’s Monday

Mr. and Mrs. Wilson, Chris, Kelli, and Kristi - I wish there were words to express my deepest sympathy to you all during this difficult time. I am still in shock over the news, as I'm sure you all are too. I deeply regret that I was not able to make it to the services this weekend - I'm in NC and unfortunately, I was unable to get off of work, but I want you to know that as you ache now and in the coming weeks, months, and years, each of you are in my thoughts and prayers, asking God to provide you peace and comfort in knowing that Kyle is now watching over you. I had not seen or talked to Kyle in quite a long time, but I was not surprised to hear that he became a fire fighter and gave his life in the attempt to save another's. I will always remember Kyle's goofy personality, smile, and kindness...I honestly can't recall him disliking or saying anything negative about anyone, and that is a very rare and special trait in this world today. It truly reveals the love and respect that he possessed for others, and I believe that all begins inside a close-knit family, which yours has always been. I pray each night that you will rely on each other, as well as friends and loved ones, for strength, hope, and memories that will never fade from now until the day each of you are reunited with your son, brother, and true love.
Deepest Sympathy,
CLINT DRAPER

Dear Bob and Sue,
I am terribly saddened by your loss. You may not remember me but Kyle and my son Chris (Wilson) played T-ball and baseball together many many years ago. I always thought that Kyle was so cute and that your family seemed to be so perfect. I now have another son who turns 10 years old on Monday. We named him Kyle. This morning while driving Kyle to school we heard word of the memorial service. I wasn't paying much attention to the radio, and my son said dad why did they say that? I didn't die. Then I listened again and realized that the Prince William fire-fighter named Kyle Wilson had to be the same boy who had impressed me so much as a 6 year old, that I wanted my son to have the same name. My prayers go out to you and your family. I just wanted you to know that the impressions left behind by your son are impressions that last a lifetime. God Bless you.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
