Born on April 13, 1938, Larry grew up in Princeton, IN. He was a basketball athlete and honors scholar at Princeton High School. Larry graduated from Loyola University of New Orleans and played basketball for the University. He graduated from the Loyola School of Law and received a Masters of Law Degree from George Washington University. While at Loyola, he was the recipient of Leader of the Year award and Outstanding Student Athlete award. He was later inducted into the Loyola Basketball Hall of Fame.
After law school, he was appointed as an officer in the Judge Advocate General's Corps and served three years of military service before receiving an honorable discharge. He relocated to Washington, DC and practiced antitrust, trade regulation and product safety law for 43 years at Arent, Fox, Kintner, Plotkin and Kahn, now Arent Fox Schiff.
Larry had many varied interests, not least of which was taking up long distance running in his late 30s.
He ran numerous 10k's, half marathons, marathons and even two ultramarathons. He even managed to convince a few colleagues, clients and friends to run several races with him. He loved classical and jazz music and enjoyed nothing better than listening to his CD's in his library. He also enjoyed fine dining and could be called upon to recommend restaurants in various cities around the US.
Upon retirement, Larry and Nancy travelled the world, reaching their goal of setting foot on all seven continents. They thoroughly enjoyed being exposed to new places, people and cultures. They also enjoyed the many family visits they made as well as hosting their family and friends at their home in the summer. Larry was a voracious reader of newspapers and books. In fact, he wrote book reviews of most books he read. He was also a devoted St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan and managed to convert Nancy into a baseball fan.
Larry was a compassionate, loving and selfless individual. He took a genuine interest in the people he worked with including his clients, many of whom were lifelong friends. He never hesitated to ask a waiter or sales clerk where they were from and what they were doing with their lives. Known as "Pop Pop" to his grandsons, he was a man of strong faith and was devoted to his family. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, relatives and friends.
