Lawrence Wright Obituary

Lawrence Thomas Wright died May 4, 2024 at the age of 87. He grew up in Lawrence, Kansas, where he graduated with a degree in finance from the University of Kansas. Larry proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, primarily in naval intelligence, retiring with the rank of Captain. Larry's post military career was equally impressive. He served as a senior partner at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he led large parts of the company's business. Larry was a devoted father to his children, Brad Wright and Sheri Geer, and a cherished patriarch to numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and extended family members. He is also survived by his first wife, Betty Hoffman Wright of Lawrence, Kansas, and a second wife. He cherished fishing and spending time with family in Yellowstone National Park, a national gem. His absence will be felt by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of life will be held soon in Fairfax, Virginia. Inquiries: [email protected]

I can't begin to express how much I admired Larry. I joined Booz Allen in 1999, and he was approachable and generous in helping me get acclimated. I loved sitting in those capture reviews and watching him ask the best kinds of questions and provide amazing suggestions. I will miss him greatly.

Larry was one of the all-time great guys. He was a personal friend, but I also knew him as a giant in the defense business. He was a true gentleman with a big heart. I will certainly miss Larry, and I will never forget his bone-crushing handshake that he insisted on delivering every time we met.

Larry, busy as he always was, always took time to listen to my whining and then advise me how to revise my attitude for a happier day. Good leader, patient mentor, helpful counselor - I greatly respected him!
