LEO GOLDBAUM Obituary


LEO R. GOLDBAUM, Ph.D.  
On December 29, 2012. Born in Brooklyn, NY on November 13, 1913, he was a Washingtonian for over 60 years. Beloved husband of Ione Lockhart and father of Thomas Goldbaum, MD (Frances Wetzel) and Keyes Anne Elliott (William). He is also survived by three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Annette Goldbaum. Dr. Goldbaum held a Ph.D. from George Washington University, and served with distinction in the US Army and the Army Reserves for 30 years. He was a toxicologist at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology at Walter Reed for over 35 years, retiring as Chief Toxicologist in 1979. In that position, he was the leading authority on carbon monoxide poisoning. He was a founding member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, and the author of numerous scientific papers and treatises. Private services will be held at a later date at Arlington Cemetery.
