LORETTA OLSON Obituary


OLSON LORETTA R. OLSON (Age 89) School Teacher Loretta R. Olson departed peacefully with her family by her side on November 15, 2012, at the Rockville Nursing Home from the disabling effects of a severe stroke suffered in August 2007. Mrs. Olson was born February 25, 1923 in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska to August Sr. and Eva (Zaucha) Wetovick. She was one of eight children. After high school graduation, Loretta went to California and then to Washington, D.C. where she worked for the F.B.I. In 1944 she met and married her husband Rudolph F. Olson of Chicago, Illinois in Boca Raton, Florida, where he was stationed with the U.S. Army Corps. Loretta and Rudy first settled in Arlington, Virginia. After the birth of their second child they moved to Falls Church, Virginia. After their third child was born, Mrs. Olson started her school teaching career at St. James in Falls Church, Virginia. A few years later, they moved to Bethesda, Maryland where she continued teaching at St. Jane Francis de Chantal School for 25 years. Mrs. Olson loved her students and thoroughly enjoyed every teaching experience. Her children and grandchildren reaped the benefits of her knowledge, patience, and creativity. Her interests included antiquing, quilting, sewing, and reading. In her later years, she enjoyed gardening. Mrs. Olson is survived by her three children: Craig Olson (Monique) of Omaha, Nebraska; Gail Herrmann (George) of Lewes, Delaware; and Laurette Moorin (Gregory) of Silver Spring, Maryland; her grandchildren Paul Olson, Jeanetta Konstantakopoulos (nee Herrmann), Andrew Herrmann, Rachel Moorin, Amanda Olson, and Christine Olson; and her great-grandchildren Kevin Olson, Justin Olson, and Kelly Olson. She is also survived by her two sisters, Theresa Nearhood of Las Vegas, Nevada and Adrienne Smith of Omaha, Nebraska. She is preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, her parents, four brothers (Ted, Dennis, June, and Paul Wetovick); and one sister (Delphine Wetovick Whalan). A memorial service will be held on November 30, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Church, 9601 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, Maryland 20814. There will be a private interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. We would like to thank the staff at the Rockville Nursing Home who cared for Loretta during the last three years of her life for their professionalism, dedication, and love.
