Lottie Traunfeld "Poppy"
On June 20, 2018, Lottie "Poppy" Traunfeld, of Silver Spring, beloved wife of the late Irving Traunfeld; devoted mother of Sue (Frank), Jon (Marianne), and Jerry (Stephen); cherished grandmother of Kate, Ben, Shawn, Jacob, Isaac, and Peter; and loving great-grandmother of Sabrina and Isobel. Lottie was born in 1930 and was raised in Brooklyn and moved with Irving and kids to Silver Spring in 1967. She retired from the Montgomery County Health Department in 1988 where she worked as an administrative assistant. Lottie was an artist, lifelong learner, and a enthusiastic traveler. She was active with several area theater groups including Fun & Fancy and Heyday Players. She loved her family, many friends and life at Leisure World. Her passions and curiosities led her to support and work for progressive causes and organizations throughout her life. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 24, 10:30 a.m., at Temple Emanuel, 10101 Connecticut Ave., Kensington, MD 20895, with interment at Judean Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be made to So Others Might Eat (some.org) and CASA (wearecasa.org)Arrangements by Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, LLC, under Jewish Funeral Practices Committee of Greater Washington Contract.

Dear Sue, John and Jerry, You do not know who I am but I knew your Mother and Dad from Temple Emanuel. I was the Cantor there for 5 years and enjoyed knowing your parents. I saw your Mother about a year ago and it was a pleasure to see her again. I was also friendly with Barbara and Paul Widem who I miss a lot. My husband and I are going to Seattle next week and will be having dinner at Poppy on the 6th of July. Poppy always mentioned this to me and she was very proud of her son. It was so recent that we were laughing at how funny Poppy was in Improv. I am deeply saddened by Poppy's death and will miss her in Heyday Players. She was such an integral part of our group. May her memory be a blessing.

I came to know Poppy through the Heyday Players. She was a talented actor with a strong voice. I loved working with her. Heyday will miss her active participation. My condolences to her family. So sorry for your loss. Lenore Sack
