MAMIE BOWMAN Obituary
MAMIE JOHNSON BOWMAN (Age 90) Retired Assistant Principal
On November 15, 2012, MAMIE JOHNSON BOWMAN of Washington, DC. Beloved wife of Carter Bowman, Jr. for 65 years, passed away at home. She was preceded in death by parents, John and Ella Johnson and sister, Anna Johnson. She leaves to mourn one son, Carter Bowman III; two grandchildren, Carter Bowman, IV, Savanna B. Bowman and their mother, Anne Shirley, all of London, England; two sisters-in-law, Doris B. Haynes and Catherine Bowman; three nieces, two great-nieces, one great-nephew and a host of cousins and friends. A memorial service officiated by the Rev. Johnsie Cogman will be held Saturday, December 29, 11 a.m., at the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, 1334 29th St., NW, Washington, DC. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Mount Zion Heritage Center (Children House), 1334 29th St., NW, Washington, DC 20007. Send condolences to: www.marshallmarchfh.com

Mrs. Bowman was a much admired role model and loyal member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Georgetown, Washington, D.C. Eternal rest unto her and Lord Jesus and may the perpetual light shine on her. Amen.

Mrs Bowman, was one of the first person who welcome me when I started working at Deal JHS. She is gonna be miss.

Mrs. Bowman was the assistant principal at Deal Jr. High when I attended in the 1970s. I remember her well -- she was all business. What an amazing life! My prayers and condolences are extended to her family.
