Not sure what to say?

February 15, 2017

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Cain Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Marcus A. Cain US Army Corporal. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

a whole decade now and i still miss u. alot has changed but not my love for u. it is selfish of me to still miss you i guess, butit cannot be helped. so many things i want to share with you. i miss you so much today for some reason. i don't know what it is about today. maybe it is the change of season, or it is that i had no choice but to stay in the fight without you. there is not enough love in the world to describe how much i care for you. i miss you and i hope you are as proud of me as i am of you.

love always,your sister

Riding to work today, I couldn't help but to shed a tear...this time 6 years ago I was anxiously waiting to return home to my family and friends and I knew that they would be overjoyed to see me. But a sadness loomed over me as I remembered that one of the most important and influential people in my life would not be there when I returned. Suddenly it all seemed so pointless...You were my rock many days your smile, your humor, your care and compassion were always enough to get me through the toughest of times. You were one of the most beautiful people I have ever had the honor of knowing, and now you are the most beautiful Angel in Heaven. Recently I was thinking about trading my car in, the Cadillac Deville I got after Iraq in your honor-but when I was at the dealership I broke down in tears! Instantly I felt like getting rid of her would be like getting rid of my memories of you...I miss you so much and I speak of you often. You were and still are one of a kind Marcus. I love you and I pray for your family every morning and every night. Continue to watch over us and protect us as you always have. You paid the ultimate price for my freedom Duggie, and that is something that I will never forget or take for granted. Missing you always but forgetting you never...

To the family of CPL. Marcus A. Cain, While I did not know your wonderful son, I salute and honor him this day for his bravery and unmeasurable courage while serving our nation. America would not be America had it not been for those like your son who are/were willing to serve and protect in spite of danger looming on every hand. Take comfort in knowing that he is resting now in the arms of his maker.

May God our Heavenly Father continue to wrap His arms tightly around you and give you that PEACE that PASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING... He will not be forgotten!
God bless you!

hello little brother. it is about that time the big "23"rd birthday. I miss u so much. Everyone does. Mom is kicking out your big birthday bash. the kids are growing up. we are anticipating the party. i know you are pleased with the plans we are making. Little Marcus was a joy to have around for a couple of months. he looks just like you and has your mannerisms. Black and booger are the same two characters. they havent changed. Lori is still the same. but enough about us. You are and always will be our brave little soldier angel. please continue to watch over us.(Mom, the kids and especially me). it is hard without you. some days are better than others. But then i remember that u are always here with me.

Happy birthday little brother!
I know heaven is more heavenly with you there.

love always and forever,

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Marcus, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

TO THE FAMILY OF CPL CAIN
THERE IS NOT A DAY THAT GOES BY THAT I DON'T THINK ABOUT HIM. I WAS IN CHARGE OF CAIN BEFORE HE PASSED. HE WAS LIKE MY LITTLE BROTHER WHO ALSO PASSED AT A YOUNG AGE. WE TALK ABOUT EVERYTHING AND DUGGIE WAS MY DRIVER IN IRAQ SO WE SPENT A LOT OF TIME ON THE ROAD OVER THERE. I ALWAYS FELT IF SOMETHING WAS GOING TO HAPPEN WE WOULD BE TOGETHER AND IT WOULD HAPPEN TO US BOTH. I TO THIS DAY FEEL RESPONSIBLE FOR HIM NOT BEING HERE TODAY. I ASKED DUGGIE IF HE MINDED GOING OUT TO THE PATROL BASE FOR 10 DAYS TO GIVE SOME OF HIS FELLOW SOLDIERS A BREAK. WE WERE MANNING TWO DIFFERENT BASES AT THE TIME. HE HAD BEEN JUST PULLING DETAILS AROUND THE F.O.B. AND WAS BORED WITH DOING THAT EVERYDAY. WE NORMALLY WOULD BE OUT ON SOME KIND OF MISSION, BUT OUR GUNNER WAS ON LEAVE SO I HAD MARCUS STAND DOWN FROM DRIVING ON THE ROADS AND GOT ANOTHER CREW. MARCUS BEING THE GREAT SOLDIER THAT HE WAS SAID I'LL GO OUT THERE AND GIVE THOSE GUYS A BREAK. I REALLY FELT LIKE THIS WAS A GOOD MOVE, BECAUSE THIS BASE HAD NOT BEEN ATTACKED AND EVERY SOLDIER I HAD SENT THERE CAME BACK TELLING OTHER SOLDIERS HOW MUCH REST THEY GOT OUT THERE. I HAD SOLDIER ASKING ME WHEN COULD THEY GO OUT THERE. MARCUS HAD BEEN OUT THERE FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS WHEN I HEARD THE CALL FOR ASSISTANCE COME OVER THE RADIO. I WAS ON ANOTHER MISSION ABOUT 15 MILES AWAY FROM THE PATROL BASE WHERE HE WAS. I FELT LIKE SOMETHING WAS VERY WRONG AND I KNEW I HAD TO GET THERE TO CHECK ON MARCUS AND THE OTHERS WHEN WE ARRIVED I SAW A SIGHT THAT I BLEW ME AWAY! MY COMMANDER TOOK ME OFF TO THE SIDE BEFORE I WALK THROUGH THE GATES AND TOLD ME THE GRIM NEWS. I CRIED FOR HOURS I COULDN'T EAT FOR DAYS EVER TIME I THOUGHT ABUT HIM I GOT REALLY SAD. THEY SAY TIME HEAL ALL WOUNDS BUT THIS IS A DEEP ONE THAT I'LL TAKE WITH ME UNTIL MY DEATH! I FIND SOME COMFORT WHEN I TALK TO JODI AND WE TALK AND LAUGH ABOUT HOW FUNNY AND CRAZY MARCUS WAS. I WAS GLAD TO SEE THAT A LOT OF THE SOLDIERS WHO KNEW AND WAS OVERTHERE WITH MARCUS REMEMBERED THE DAY OF HIS UNTIMELY PASSING A YEAR LATER AND TOOK TIME OUT TO REFLECT ON HOW GREAT A PERSON HE WAS. TO HIS PARENTS, FAMILY, AND FRIENDS I'M DEEPLY SORRY FOR YOUR LOST AND A DAY DOES NOT PASS WHERE I THINK IF I COULD HAVE CHANED THE EVENTS OF THAT DAY HOW COULD I. MARCUS I KNOW YOU ARE IN HEAVEN AND YOU ARE WATCHING OVER US I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU AND I WILL SEE YOU ON THE OTHERSIDE LITTLE BROTHER!!!

August 17, 2007

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history, we pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

I graduated high school with Marcus and I must say he is a soul that will be missed. Marcus had a way of making everyone laugh and he always knew the perfect time to crack a joke. On top of that he was a great friend. There are numerous people that will miss marcus but with a personality like his he definatley will never be forgotten. I pray that God rests his soul and keeps his hand with marcus's family. Marcus has several siblings serving right now also...may God be with them and give them the strength to continue the fight that Marcus died fighting.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

My Dearest Marcus,
Words could not describe how much we miss you. Mom and I love you so much. The whole family misses you, I cannot stress that enough. But, you will always be in our memories. Duggie, you were more than a brother to me. You were and always will be my best friend. I cry for you everyday, not a day goes by i don't think about you. I remember all of the talks we had on the phone and all the plans we made. I think about you and smile. I remember everytime it was time for us to hang, you would always tell me you loved me. Well duggie, i love you more than you will ever know. I know you are in heaven. You are our little angel. But, you were just so special to me. We had a bond and we still do, No one could ever break that. I know you are watching over us. But i smile cause i can feel you with me everywhere i go. Remember, I will always protect and defend you. You are my kid brother always and forever. I know you are in good hands up there. It was a blessing knowing and growing up with you. I remember as kids, mom taught me how to love and watchout for you. However, as we grew up to be adults that loved just multiplied. Duggie, you will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

To the Family of CPL CAIN,

Your Son/Brother was my Soldier, and I am honored, proud and humbled to have known and served with CPL Cain as his Platoon Sergeant as well as his First Sergeant. Without any doubt he was developing to be an outstanding leader of Soldiers, with so much potential that had no limits. The Commander, myself and the Soldiers feel the loss of such a true warrior. CPL Cain you will be truly missed by the Eliminators but you will never be forgotten.

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Marcus' soul is nestled in the arms of our Heavenly Father and the many family and friends who have gone home before him.

When you find yourselves missing him, remember that bright smile of his and know that he is watching over you from above. Cherish all the memories that you shared together. Trust in the Lord and He will get you through this trying time.

There are no words that I can say that will take away the pain that you are suffering. I lost my nephew in Taji, Iraq on September 14, 2006. These young soldiers gave up a lot to fight for our freedom, and for that we are all proud. God Bless All of our fallen soldiers, and our soldiers that are still fighting. To my Family:
Be strong knowing God will comfort us. Our family has endured so many hardships this year, but because of our foundation (Rosella and Moses Sr.) we are a family rooted in God and in prayer. Keep that in mind as we celebrate Marcus. It'll hurt a while but JOY will come in the morning. I love you all.

This is so hard to believe that this senseless war has now reached OUR FAMILY, but with help of the FATHER that we all know, love and put ALL faith and trust in we will make it.
Duggie was and will always be loved and his memories cherished by our family. Our family times were cut short but God loved him best & decided it was time for his great reunion in the sky.
To my big brother (Roy) always remember that I love you dearly and will always keep you in my prayers. Bennie, stay strong and continue to find peace and I'll draw strength from you. Always remember that family is just a phone call away (LUV YA).
To my nieces and nephews remember that it is God who carries us when we are at our lowest. We will always find peace in prayer, we don't understand it now but JOY will come in the morning.

words cannot begin to express what your family is going through. Knowing marcus was a joy. No matter how rough your day was, he will say or do something to make you laugh and turn your frown into a smile. My last converstation with him was our love of the R & B artist (SADE). He was like, "SSG JOHNSON what you know about sade, i teased back what you know. He told me she is one of my favorites and my sister listens to her whenever she is cleaning or relaxing. To know that he is gone is unbelievable. He was a sweet nature person, with a huge smile and kind words for all who came into his presence. I miss him. May god give you strength and comfort. Although he is no longer with us all, know that his spirit lives on.

I never knew you personally only by seeing you pass by the house when you were younger, yet the tragedy that happened to you has touched me and my family so deeply.Today my mom and I found out that on your dad's side of the family, you are related to us.This deepens the pain even more. I know you are in a wonderful place and that you would not want to return here if you could. Please realize even so, you will be truly missed by many.

I was the First Sergeant of the unit in which CPL Cain was attached. I had not known him very long, but I knew him long enough to know that he was a great Soldier and a great young man. He will truly be missed. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

Cpl. Marcus A. Cain
you are my hero
may god keep you in his arms forever.

September 23, 2006

To the Family of Cpl. Marcus A. Cain:
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost a son 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday.
I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is those wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family.

Please know that I am deeply sorry for your loss.
As a parent, who has lost a daughter suddenly,
and as a sister, who has lost a brother to war,
I am aware of the deep and devastating pain that you are experiencing.
The overwhelming heartache, seems to surface through our shock, as the time passes.
Please hang on to your Faith and know that you will get through this.
Ever so softly and slowly, time does heal.

May Marcus Rest Safely, in the Loving Care of God and know that he WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
I pray that God's Comfort and Grace will be with you and your family.
I am the sister, of such a Young Hero, who made the Ultimate Sacrifice in Vietnam, many years ago.

Surely He hath borne our grief, and carried our sorrow.
Isaiah 53:4

May the love of your dear one,
Remain in your heart and give you,
Strength through the difficult days ahead.
