Margaret Barbera Obituary
Margaret Barbera "Peggy"
Of Rockville, MD, passed away on January 16, 2023 at the age of 86. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, James T. Barbera, and her four children, James, Jr. (Diana), Denise Workum (David), Michael (Carol), and Gregory as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Peggy was a devout Catholic who worked in the business office at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School for 34 years. She loved dancing and bowling. She was a world traveler, an avid gardener and a birdwatcher who was known for her Santa Claus collection. She loved to crochet and enjoyed spending time at the beach where her motto was "you better get there before the lifeguards show up and not leave until they are gone." Peggy was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends will be received in the Shrine of St. Jude Catholic Church, 12701 Veirs Mill Road, Rockville, MD on Monday, January 23, 2023 from 10:30 to 11 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Besides a coworker, I considered Peggy a great friend. She invited me to my first Redskins game and we shared our love for good old music. She attended my wedding and I was invited to her wedding anniversary. She was so kind to give my daughters Christmas presents when they were little.
I will sure miss my friend Peggy.

Peg was always a constant during our time at Good Counsel, from when I was a student and continuing on when I started teaching here. I could always count on a warm smile greeting me from the business office. No one could leave Peg without having a chuckle!

You can´t think of Peg without smiling. She was a great storyteller who loved her Jim, her kids, grandkids, friends and life. She had a zest for travel and she will be greatly missed.

I worked with Peg for years as chair of the religion department and as Service Coordinator. She was a joy to work with. She was not only professional but a dear friend. I pray that Jesus gave her a big hug when she entered heaven.
