Died on July 23, 2006 of double pneumonia. She was a retired professor, an accomplished nature photographer, enthusiastic supporter of the environment, and gourmet cook. Dr. Ryan taught biology and ecology at Simmons College in Boston in 1972 and biology, ecology, and ESOL at Prince George's Community College from 1973 - 1996. She was also a member of the Writer's Group at Prince George's Community College. Dr. Ryan had several professional accomplishments including delegate to the Faculty Advisory Council for Maryland Higher Education Commission and the Prince George's Community College Faculty Senate Excellence Award in 1993. She is survived by her husband, Daniel P. Ryan, and step-children Patricia, Daniel, Stephen, and Sean Ryan. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Chesapeake Bay and Endangered Species Fund. A memorial service will be held on August 22 at 2:30 p.m. at the Prince George's Community College, Marlboro Hall Art Gallery, 301 Largo Rd., Largo, MD 20774-2199.

Meg was a shining light, a wonderful person who loved the earth and the joys of discovering the treasures within it. She was patient and wise. She made great contributions to Prince George's Community College as well. I will miss her a great deal.
