MARIA KOUTROUVELIS Obituary
Maria Koutrouvelis
On Saturday, September 18, 2021 Maria Chaconas Koutrouvelis of McLean, VA, beloved mother of Aristides (Gayle), Alex, Harry (Pamela), and Demetri; devoted grandmother to Panagiotis, Maria, George, and Penelope; sister of Peter Chaconas and Nina Mitchell, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her son George, husband Panos, and parents Martina and Aristides. Maria was born in Washington, DC, completed nursing studies at Georgetown University and partnered with her loving husband Panos to create a medical practice and raise her family. She will be forever remembered for strength, adventurous spirit, devotion to family, generosity and a welcoming home. The family will receive visitors September 26, 2021 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Joseph Gawler's Sons, 5130 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Washington, DC. Funeral services and Makaria will be held on September 27, 2021. Details are listed on the Gawler's website. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Bethesda, Maryland, the St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Falls Church, Virginia, or to a charitable organization of your choice.
