I knew Marie many years ago, around 1954, when we lived in the York Apartments at 20th and F Streets in Washington. We were the only two families in an all adult apartment house and I as a new mother was badly in need of a friend. She was a wonderful friend to me, giving me practical advice and kindly encouragement. After they moved to their new house in Arlington and we went overseas we lost touch, but I have never forgotten her kindness. Just the other day I ran across her recipe for Syrian chicken and it brought back memories. I am so sorry to know she has passed away. We send our deepest sympathy.

Dear Family of Marie,
I was saddened to hear of Marie's passing. Although Marie and I had lost touch since I moved to South Carolina almost three years ago, I have fond memories of our many days together at various Arlington schools. Marie had a great sense of humor and called it like she saw it! She loved children and, of course, had a special place in her heart for ESL students.
I know that Marie had been in fragile health for some time. I hope she is peaceful now.
She will be in my heart.

I will not be able to attend Marie's visitation or funeral but I do want to express my sympathy to the family in the loss of Marie. She was a valued teacher in Arlington County for many years, and after her retirement was a valued member of the Arlington Retired Teachers Association, whose meetings she frequently attended. We will miss her.
