Marilyn Lundquist Obituary

82, passed away peacefully of natural causes on July 7, 2025, in Dedham, MA in the company of her husband Ronald Lundquist. Marilyn was born on September 19, 1942, in Albany, NY to C. Ray and Luella Warne Lloyd. She grew up in Manlius, NY with her two younger sisters Barbara and Janet, with whom she stayed close her entire life. Marilyn brought warmth, laughter, and constant kindness into the lives of all who knew her.
Marilyn valued education and encouraged her two sons to acquire too many degrees. She earned her undergraduate degree from Russell Sage College and her Masters in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois, where she also met her husband, Ronald. She dedicated decades of service to the Food and Drug Administration at the National Institutes of Health campus in Bethesda, where she focused on electron microscopy and built enduring friendships and made lasting contributions.
During 40 remarkable years of marriage to Ronald, the love of her life, Marilyn established their family's roots in Bethesda, Maryland, where they happily raised two sons, Mark and Andrew. Her selfless devotion extended beyond family, traveling around the nation to cheer her boys at countless soccer and hockey games, mostly tolerating their humorous antics with patience and affection.
Genealogy fascinated Marilyn throughout her life, leading her to diligently trace and map her ancestry back before the American Revolution. She enjoyed many field trips with family members to graveyards, tracking ancestors and communicating with fellow enthusiasts from Ohio to Sweden. She enjoyed travel, exploring new cities, trying new restaurants around Bethesda, and enjoying new experiences every step of the way. She spent many wonderful summers in the Thousand Islands on the St. Lawrence River, out on the water and playing pinochle with family. Marilyn and Ron loved the theatre and volunteered enthusiastically as ushers at Arena Stage in Washington, DC, delighting in the arts and bringing people together through shared experiences.
Marilyn leaves behind her loving husband Ronald, devoted sons Mark and Andrew, her dear sisters Barbara Britt and Janet Sherman, and her treasured grandchildren Alex, Dean, Jack and Avery. All who met her will lovingly remember her kindness, patience, and vibrant passion for life. Her warmth and love will be deeply missed but forever celebrated in the hearts of those who loved her most.

Mark, you and Andrew choose a wonderful picture of your mom She was the oldest of the 10 Lloyd related cousins and her passing has left me with so many wonderful memories. Everything from a great trip to Paris, just the two of us when I was a senior in high school in London, and so many memories of all of us at camp at TIP. It was always a special summer when we traveled to NY!! You boys and your dad are in my prayers

From neighbor to colleague to great friend, Marilyn was a wonderful and loving person to all. I would not be where I am today without her dedication to mentoring me at the FDA. I'm so sad to hear of her passing and send my condolences to all of the Lundquist family.

Dear Ron and Family,
There is a quote we feel was written for Marilyn: "Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, hers was the most... human." For us, these words capture Marilyn's warmth, grace and the power of a soul profoundly alive. Tahir and Mimi
