Marilyn Rogers Obituary

With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of our cherished mom, grandmother, and friend, Marilyn Rogers, who left us peacefully on May 20, 2024. Marilyn was a beacon of love, joy, and boundless inspiration in the lives of all who knew her.
Marilyn lived her life with passion and love. As an avid golfer, she spent countless sunny days perfecting her swing and sharing laughter with friends on the golf course. Her love for the game was matched only by her zest for life, expressed through her fearless personality and adventurous spirit, often seen driving around in her beloved red sports cars.

Above all, Marilyn's greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. Known affectionately as "Mimi," she was a devoted grandmother who poured her heart into creating unforgettable memories with her grandkids.

Marilyn's kindness, generosity, and unwavering positivity were admirable traits and the essence of who she was. She was the best person any of us had the privilege to know, and her impact on our lives is immeasurable. Through her 30+ years as a Fairfax County Public Schools physical education teacher, she inspired countless lives. Her legacy of love and joy will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her.

Beloved wife to late husband Kenneth Rogers, Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Wendy (Jason) Wade; two adoring grandchildren, Sophie and Wesley Wade; her brother, Leonard Charles (Bonnie) Allen, Jr.; and her sister, Penny Godar. She also leaves many friends and extended family members, who will miss her dearly.

A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held on June 14, 2024, from 1 to 4 p.m. at International Country Club in Chantilly, VA. Stories and memories of her remarkable life will be shared. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Step Sisters Organization (stepsisters.org) in Marilyn's memory.

This woman was amazing. I was honored to be one of her nurses. We talked about cars and sports she did. She'd ask about my kids. Always had a positive attitude. I missed her when I left my job. Happened across this while talking to my husband about pickleball. Wendy and family, my heart goes out to you. Prayers for healing and love to your family.
