Mark Russell Obituary





RUSSELL MARK VAN RUSSELL Mark Van Russell, affectionately known as "Marky" by his cousins, passed away on May 17, 2010 at Capital Hospice in Arlington, VA after an eight-month battle with lung cancer. Mark loved being with his family, possessed a love for art, aquariums, exotic fish and old Western movies. Mark touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. Mark will forever be remembered by his devoted parents, Lonnie and Rose Russell; beloved daughter, RéMarkikie Roberts; treasured grandchildren, Jhuwann Russell and Lia Roberts; loving sisters, Bernadette Champion, Londia Russell and Ja''Vonne Harley; nieces, Brandi Champion and Ja''Vonne Russell; nephews, Mark Champion and JaMal Russell; brotherly cousins, Raymond Russell, Jr. and Fred Jones; son-in-law, Uriah Roberts; brothers-in-law, Calvin Champion and Gene Harley, along with a dear caring friend, Angelina Anaya and countless other relatives and friends who were blessed to know and love him. Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Ebenezer AME Church, 7806 Allentown Rd., Fort Washington, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contricutions be made in memory of Mark Russell to the wonderful people who gave such wonderful care for Mark in his time of need at Capital Hospice, Philanthropy Office, 2900 Telestar Ct., Falls Church, 22042.

I was so saddened to hear of Mark's
passing. I found out too late to attend
his service. Please accept our sincere
condolences. Mark was like a brother

It is with deep sadness to hear of Mark's passing. I worked with Mark at the USUHS in Bethesda, MD. He worked at nights and as he was getting off, I was coming to work. He always had a smile and a kind word. In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always.
