Martin Connolly Obituary

Martin James Connolly, 79, died from a brain hemorrhage on January 15, 2025, at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. He was born May 25, 1945, in Rutland, Vermont, the son of James and Elizabeth Sheridan Connolly.
He graduated from Bryant College in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force that same year. While stationed at CCK Air Base in Taichung, Taiwan, during the Vietnam War, he met and married Ada Su. They celebrated 52 years of marriage last September. Marty served for 20 years in the U.S. Air Force handling procurement matters before he was honorably discharged in 1987. He then went on to have a rewarding private sector career until 2004. His favorite pastimes were reading, traveling, reading about traveling, and spending time with his grand-children.
In addition to his parents, Marty was predeceased by a brother, Robert Connolly, and a sister, Mary Connolly McGinnis. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Ada (Su) Connolly, are his daughter, Anne (Connolly) Walther and her husband, Hank Walther of Arlington, Virginia; his two grandchildren, Tyson and Rio Walther; his sister, Kathleen (Connolly) MacDonald and her husband, Matthew MaDonald of Conway, New Hampshire; his nephew, Matthew MacDonald and his wife, Rita MacDonald, and daughter, Isla MacDonald, of Manchester, New Hampshire; nieces Kathryn McGinnis of Brooklyn, New York, and Kristen (McGinnis) Cohen of Derry, New Hampshire and her two daughters, Madison and Cameron Cohen.
Marty will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors at a later date. Those who wish to may make gifts in his memory to the Walter Reed Murtha Cancer Center. Murtha Cancer Center donations may be sent to:
