Portia Boggia-Davidson

My name is Portia Boggia Davidson, in 1972, (47 years ago) I lived with Martin and Jone Dowd and took care of their children for a few years when I attended graduate school at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. I absolutely loved and cherished my years with the Dowd family! I can honestly state that God took extra time when he created Martin Dowd because he was a true champion at everything he set out to accomplish! I could tell hundreds of stories of our time together, we laughed constantly and I felt so blessed to have known this remarkable family! Martin was admired, respected and beloved by his entire family, friends and everyone who was fortunate enough to know him! He added richness to the lives of countless others, and in countless ways. His special touch with people sits at the heart of his equally remarkable life! His numerous successes are a credit to the support that he received from his wonderful wife, Jone who has been a constant source of encouragement. Together, they raised four remarkable children who all possess the same talents, strong values and warm human qualities as their mother and father. Martin was a gift from God like no other! His wisdom taught us that love and laughter is not only good medicine, it's an inheritable trait, and I know that he has Jesus laughing at each and every gate! Martin's legacy will never be forgotten. He is certainly in heaven! May our Lord bless and comfort the entire Dowd family during this time of grief. Please accept my sincere condolences with loving memories, Portia

The Tower...the cage..intramurals. Laughing all the time. We still have a million of Martin's custom-made tee shirts. The Rubies--most under-rated intramural team. The Sunday afternoon tennis cook-outs at the Dowds. Nothing but sweet memories!

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Marty. Take as much time as you need to soothe your grieving hearts, and to cope with your sadness. Always look to Almighty God, who loves us, for everlasting comfort.

My sincerest sympathy and prayers go out to the Dowd family. My daughter, Maryanne Burke, was coached by Marty at CUA and we recently saw him at Resurrection. He will be missed on many levels; but he has won the match and is at everlasting peace.

My thoughts are with the family during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort knowing that there is a hope for our love ones lost in death can be reassuring.

Our Heavenly Father has given us a life span of 70-80 years if we are especially strong. May you celebrate a life well lived and loved by many. May the words of Psalm 90:10,14 bring comfort to the family.
