My sincerest condolences to your entire family. Though I had not seen Gary in years, I had the go to the University of Maryland and get to know him while pledging at our fraternity Phi Sigma Delta.
Gary always had a smile, was good natured to us under class an, and exuded a warmth like few others. A true gentle soul.
I wish the entire Greenbaum peace and my thoughts and prayers as you honor such a kind man.

To Sherri and the entire Greenbaum Family: With a heavy heart I want to extend my deepest condolence to you and the Family. I first met Gary at UMD in 1975 as he lived in the dorm next to me. Gary and I became true friends instantly and we later roomed together for one year at UMD. Gary was a great friend and I have fond memories of the time we had together. I even remember Sherri who was Gary's soulmate and best friend. We will forever miss Gary and we will never forget. He was a kind soul and fun to be with. Very sorry for your loss Sherri and Family.

I loved my appointments with Dr. Greenbaum! We talked about movies (when he was not checking or drilling or putting caps on my teeth), he never allowed me to feel any pain (when patients were in pain, he was also in pain...), and he was so proud of his children. The world is a less happy place without him. My sympathies go out to his family....I know you will be missing him dearly. You will find ways, however, to feel his continued presence in your life. For me, as long as I have my teeth, I will remain thankful and alive with good memories of him.

Dear Sherri,
I met and knew Gary through Ronnie, who was one of my roommates in law school. Afterwards, I would see Gary from time to time at Windsor Dry Cleaning in Gaithersburg when I stopped in to see Ronnie. Gary was a very nice man who always had a smile for everyone; he was as someone else said a true mensch. I am very sad to learn of his passing and offer my condolences to you and your family and to Ronnie and Nathan and their families. May your memories of his smile and kindness be of comfort to all of you.

To the entire Greenbaum Family: I am so sorry for your loss. I first met Gary in 1975 as he lived next door to me in my dorm at UMD. We became great friends and lived together for one year before Gary went to Dental School. Gary was such a kind soul and was liked by everyone. We had some great times together. And yes I remember Sherri because she was Gary's life and soulmate. We will never forget Gary.

Dear Sherri and family. I was heartbroken to hear of Gary's passing. Although I had not seen Sherri and Gary for many years we all went to college together and Sherri and I lived in the same dorm. Gary always had a big smile and an infectious laugh. He was just a great guy. May his memory forever be for a blessing.

Gary was a true mensch. One of the kindest, most caring people I've met. He will be sorely missed. My condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. The world is a bit darker today without Gary's ever present smile and good humor

Our deepest condolences to you and your family. Gary was very influential early on with our son Dr. Brandon Berman who went to Howard dental school and is now a dentist. Brandon thought the world of Gary and aspired to have the same type of worth effort as Gary. He will be missed. Steve and Shelly Berman.

Our family was personally, and significantly, blessed by Dr. Greenbaum's generosity. Everyone else has said so perfectly what he brought to every patient and friend. And in our family, as so many others, we all became patient's of his.

Dear Sherri, Jamie, Stacey and Brad. We are so sorry for your loss. Gary was like a 2nd father to Marcy and Jamie was my other daughter. He was an amazing person who always had a smile on his face and a good joke to break the tension when sitting in his dental chair. As long as we keep him in our hearts, he will always be there, smile and all. He was a gentle giant.....We will miss him so much! Wendy and Jerry Krassner

Our hearts are heavy in learning of the passing of Dr. Greenbaum and we send our deepest condolences to the Greenbaum family. I was a patient of Dr. Greenbaum's for 20 years starting when his office was in Montgomery Village. I came to him nervous and with a lot of work to be done. I got to know him and Shawna pretty well during those years of many office visits. He enjoyed answering all the questions I would ask. He always asked about my family, work and we talked about our Brads (my son Brad is about the same age as his Brad). Needless to say, my whole family eventually became patients of his, and we all loved him. I will always remember his laugh, friendliness, kindness and humor. I've have frequently told others about my favorite dentist/doctor. I wish I could thank him one more time for what his patience and kindness meant to me. He will be greatly missed. We were neighbors and patients. My daughter babysat for his girls.
His stories were hysterical. My favorites:
1) Shawna's husband, a firefighter, was very close to Brad when Brad was young. One day, Brad saw a passing fire truck and called out to it: "It's me! Stop! It's me! Gary said Brad thought every fire truck was there for him. :-)
2) Gary's Santa Claus story: The daughter of a patient in his office RAN to him -- arms outstretched -- calling out: "Santa Clause, Santa Clause!"
He said many children thought he really was Santa Claus! :-)
Gary's presence was SO large. His welcoming, friendly personality was SO large. He remembered details of every patient he saw. It's difficult to believe he's gone. He was a wonderful dentist, neighbor, friend, husband, brother, son, uncle, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed and remembered forever.
