MARY McAFEE Obituary

Mary Frances McAfee  (nee Harris)
On September 1, 2021, Mary Frances (nee Harris) McAfee lost her seven year struggle against Parkinson's disease at her home in Fairfax, Virginia. Mary was born August 12, 1943 in Stoneham, Massachusetts, the daughter of William Allen Harris and Anna Madeline Lynam. Mary graduated from Boston College in 1965 with a double major in History and Education. After graduation, Mary taught for a year before joining the Defense Intelligence Agency in 1967. During her tenure at DIA she was involved in two historical events, the capture of the U.S. intelligence gathering ship, the Pueblo in 1968 and the home coming debriefing of American military members held captive by the North Vietnamese government in 1973. In 1973, Mary left DIA to raise her family. She is survived by her husband, Terry of Fairfax; son, Robert (Nicole) McAfee and grandchildren, Liam and Quentin of San Diego, Sean McAfee of Burke, Virginia and Christopher McAfee of Las Vegas. Mary loved traveling particularly having completed 17 cruises through out the world. She taught English in Japan for over four years. She was also known for her exceptional memory much to the chagrin of her husband. Mary, as a devoted wife and mother, will be sorely missed by her family and friends." Services previously held.
