Mary Parker Obituary

Mary NEFF Parker "Tudie"
Died peacefully on June 19, 2016, at her home in Spring Valley, Washington, DC, with family at her side. Tudie was the widow of Dr. Edwin "Buzz" Parker III, whom she met in Charlottesville, VA.  Tudie was born on June 13, 1919, in Charlottesville, VA, where she attended St. Anne''s School. She graduated from St. Mary''s Junior College in Raleigh, NC and briefly attended Hollins College in Roanoke, VA. She worked at Riggs Bank in Washington, DC, before marrying Dr. Parker. She served as president of the Altar Guild at Christ Church, Georgetown and was on the board of Stratford Hall. She was a member of the Junior League of Washington, the Evergreen Garden Club and the Chevy Chase Club, where she loved to bowl, play bridge and tennis. She was also an ardent fan of her beloved Washington Redskins. But it was her love of family, home and preparation of meals that allowed us to gather together in a true Norman Rockwell sense, that brought Tudie the greatest joy. Tudie is survived by her four children, Edwin Pearson Parker IV, John Neff Parker, David Matthews Parker, and Elizabeth Parker Nibley; six grandchildren, Chris, Charlie, Stoddert, Pearson, Stuart and Stafford; and great-grandchildren Jackson, Luca, Savanna and Hudson. A private interment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery. A Memorial Service will take place July 15, 11 a.m. at Christ Church, Georgetown.
