MARY ANN KENT PROWITT  1943 - 2014  
Mary Ann Kent Prowitt passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014 in Alexandria, Virginia. She was born on March 3, 1943 to Howard and Clara (Strong) Kent in Mt. Judea, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents.  After graduating from Greenwood High School in Springfield, Missouri, she attended and graduated from Southwest Missouri State in Springfield, Missouri. She continued her education and completed graduate work at Vanderbilt Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee. Upon this graduation, she moved to Washington, D.C. and began her career. She worked most of her professional life for and retired from the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare.  The activities she enjoyed throughout her life were many and varied. She painted, needlepointed, knitted, and beaded beautiful jewelry. She collected thimbles and postcards. She volunteered generously with her time in efforts supporting battered women and public broadcasting. She attended art, music, and theater events. She enjoyed extensive traveling with cousins and friends, from salmon fishing in Alaska to riding camels in Tunisia. She also made frequent trips to visit her parents in Harrison, Arkansas.  She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her many cousins and friends and by her two beloved cats. A memorial service will scheduled in the future. Interment will be in Mt. Judea Cemetery, Mt. Judea, Arkansas. Memorial donations can be made in her honor to a charity of the donor's choice.

I went to high school with Mary Ann and then we reconnected in Washington DC. She was a lovely person.
