MICHAEL D'ANDREA Obituary
Michael Richard D'Andrea
Michael R. D'Andrea of Olney, Maryland passed away at his home in Olney Mill with his wife Jill, and his two sons Mike and Joey on October 7, 2021 at 5 p.m. after battling with acute myeloid leukemia for the past year. He is also survived by his grandchildren Vincent, Leo, and Sophia. Michael was born on June 18, 1951 in Brooklyn, New York, to proud parents, Moses and Florence D'Andrea. Michael is a former Director of Human Resources at the Washington, DC VA Medical Center. He retired in 2007 after 27 years of exceptional service in the federal government and is an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Navy. Michael joined Montgomery College in 2001 and served as an adjunct faculty member until 2012 in the History/Sociology Department. He received his Masters Degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Annenberg School of Communications, and Baccalaureate in Sociology from Adelphi University. Michael served as the Governor of the Swedish Colony Society from 2014 to 2018. He was also a youth sports coach and active member of the Holiday Park Senior Center in Silver Spring, Maryland. Friends and family are invited to a viewing and service at Aspen Hill Christian Church, 13501 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland 20906 on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, beginning at 5 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery. Mike, I remember all the laughs we had at the FCC when we "organized" the Italian-American Club at the FCC, we had a lot of great laughs when we did this and shared that joy with others(even if they weren't Italian), that's truly a Gift from God, you're so blessed Mike, it was I that was blessed knowing you, riposore in pace
