Michael D. McQuay  
On Friday, August 25, 2017, Michael D. McQuay of Laurel, MD and Estes Park, CO passed away. He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Beverly McQuay; his cherished son, Michael D. McQuay, Jr., daughter-in-law, Amy McQuay, granddaughters, Karly and Cassie McQuay; his mother-in-law, Charlotte K. Kearns, and sister-in-law, Cynthia L. Kearns. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James and Lauretta McQuay. He leaves behind many dear friends and extended family and will be forever loved and missed for his humor, strength, loyalty, and compassion. "Big Mike" was happiest with his family and his "woof" pack, Koda and River, and is now reunited with his much-adored Bear, Stormy, Baron, and Marley. Mike's love of the National Parks, and especially the Rocky Mountains, was well-known by all who loved him. His family takes great comfort knowing Michael spent his final day in the majesty and glory of Rocky Mountain National Park at sunset. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, September 23 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Gasch's Funeral Home, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, MD, with prayers and remembrances from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made instead to one of the many charities Mike supported and cared deeply about: The Humane Society of the United States, The Animal Legal Defense Fund, Stray Rescue of St. Louis, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary Utah, Dogs Deserve Better, Farm Sanctuary, or another deserving animal protection cause or organization.www.gaschs.com
