MILDRED TOTH Obituary

MILDRED C. TOTH 1922 - 2013
Mildred Toth was born in Morrisdale, Pennsylvania, to John and Cora (Emigh) Haas. She moved to New Jersey where she met her husband, John. They lived in Nebraska where he was stationed during World War II, and later returned to New Jersey, where they remained for more than 50 years. Mildred had a "keep it simple and make it work" philosophy with an enduring sense of humor that enabled her to tackle many daunting challenges with great success and satisfaction. She was also an accomplished knitter and seamstress who clothed several generations and preserved the craft by teaching it to others.  Her heart, like her front door, was always open. She treated everyone like family, and had friends of all ages throughout the world. She spent her final years as a resident of Goodwin House, Alexandria, VA, active in the Knit for Kids group. She was happy to be with the caring staff and community of friendship, and close to her devoted daughter Pam. She died on May 28, 2013. Mildred was predeceased by her parents, brothers, husband, and sons-in-law. She is survived by her daughters Pamela Fein and Susan Duncan, four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.  There will be a memorial service for Mildred on Saturday, June 22 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel at Goodwin House Bailey's Crossroads (3440 S. Jefferson Street, Falls Church, VA 22041; Front Desk 703-820-1488; http://www.goodwinhouse.org/goodwin-house-baileys-crossroads/). In lieu of flowers, a donation to Goodwin House Foundation in Mildred's memory would be greatly appreciated.
