Dr. Akhter was so supportive when he was at APHA, where I met him. Truely a kind, compassionate man. He will be missed.

Condolences to the family! I am sorry for your loss. Dr. Akhter was a role model and my boss at both the DC Department of Health and the American Public Health Association. He was an inspirational boss! May you find peace in your memories.

Dr.Akhter was truly a Health Systems Advocate.
It was truly a pleasure being his Special Assistant during tenure as Director of Health for Washington, DC and later as Assistant Professor for Health Systems Management and Policy at Howard University in Washington,.DC
In addition, we were also advocates for Global Systems Strengthening and Development and Universal Health Insurance Reform within the US and Globally.
Dr.Akhter met the purpose of his life journey.
To all peace and tranquility,
Doc.T
