Nancy Dannels Obituary

Nancy Dannels, age 87, of Clifton, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 13, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. Born on January 18, 1938, in Forest Hills, PA, Nancy spent her early married life in Pittsburgh and moved to Clifton, VA in 1979. She held a variety of secretarial, accounting, and administrative positions at the American Institutes for Research (AIR) and Synectics Corporation, a government IT contractor. She met her beloved husband, Gil, while working at AIR and they enjoyed their early years attending sports car races together.
Nancy managed her family's rental home on the Outer Banks for over 30 years and loved spending time there with her husband, daughters, and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, building puzzles, camping, traveling, and tending her koi pond. Nancy always had a ready smile for everyone and maintained a positive outlook on life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gil, with whom she shared 55 wonderful years of marriage and who passed in 2016, and is survived by her daughters Lisa
Grandle and Robin Dannels; and grandchildren Patrick Grandle and Natalie Grandle.
Nancy's smile, her gentle wisdom, and her love for family and friends will be cherished always. She lived life on her terms to the end, and we are grateful for every moment we shared.
A private celebration of Nancy's life will be held at a later date.
