Nancy Gilfillan Obituary

GILFILLAN NANCY JANE WHITMAN GILFILLAN Died Sunday, January 18, 2009 at Cottingham House. Born to the late Ray Palmer and Edith Marguerite Martyn Whitman, she was a graduate of Bethany College. Mrs. Gilfillan was a member of North Bethesda United Methodist Church. She was an avid pianist and a classical music composer. Nancy loved collecting seashells and won many national awards for her vast collection. She traveled extensively showing her display of shells. Survivors include son, Jim Gilfillan and wife, Cindy of Maryland; daughter, Beth Hulse and husband, Tom of Seneca, SC; and brother, Ray Whitman, Jr. of Indianapolis, IN. In addition to her parents, her husband, James McCracken Gilfillan precedes her in death. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, January 24, 2009 in the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home, 512 E. Main St. Westminster, SC. Burial will follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. The family is at their respective homes. Memorials in Mrs. Gilfillan‘s memory may be made to Oconee Medical Center Foundation, 298 Memorial Drive, Seneca, SC 29672 or to the charity of your choice.
