NANCY LORD Obituary

Nancy Theresa Lord, MD, JD,
Died early in the morning on Valentine's Day February 14, 2022 in Show Low, Arizona after a brief bout with Covid. She had turned 70 six days earlier.Despite being born, raised, and educated on the East Coast (her MD was from the University of Maryland, her JD from Georgetown), Nancy became entranced with the West. She loved the sunsets and the space. Her ideal residence was "off the grid."Yet it was this very grid that enabled her to continue to run her legal consulting business until days before she died. Combining her medical expertise with her legal background, Nancy did patent work all over the world, becoming fluent in Japanese in the process. She also dabbled in politics, as the Libertarian candidate for DC Mayor in 1990 and Vice-President in 1992. More than anything else, Nancy loved dogs. Wolf-dogs in particular. She had begun the process of registering a new breed with the American Kennel Club, sure that nothing else came close in temperament, intelligence and just plain cuddleability to the pack that was constantly by her side.Nancy is survived by her mother, Maxine Schwartzman, of Potomac, MD, her brothers, Robert Lord of Phoenix, AZ and Howard Michael Schwartzman of Los Angeles, CA, her sister, Susan Lord of Lancaster, PA and her aunt, Rita Lee of New York, NY. She was pre-deceased by her step-mother, Estella Cahan Lord, step-father, Bernard Schwartzman, and father, Norman Lord.A funeral service will be held at a later date. Donations in Nancy's memory may be made to the wolf-dog sanctuary of your choice.

Nancy and J.J. were good friends of mine back in the '90s. We met at a nutritional supplement company in Marina Del Rey, CA where we both worked -- me as a marketing writer, and Nancy doing legal work for the company. J.J. and Nancy often stayed at my Malibu apartment when they were in town. Theirs was a true love match. They adored each other. Nancy was one hell of a woman and I am proud to have known her. Gone too soon.

I'm sad. Any day is a hard day to hear about another casualty.

Nancy's life was like river running class 4 and 5 rapids. Always adventurous, sometimes just plain beyond scary. Nancy lived a full out life. I can still hear her unique laugh.

I loved Nancy. I just found this out and realized I talked to her over the phone a few days before she died. I´m very sad.

Very sorry to see she has past on. I remember her from high school that she was a excellent student and very respectful to talk with.
