Nancy Swope Obituary

Nancy J. Swope, 74, of Alexandria, VA, died Thursday, March 28, 2024, following a brief illness. Born in Pennsylvania on October 5, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Daniel and Betty Immel Swope. Nancy was a graduate of the University of Maryland and a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Professionally, she worked in the Office of Senator Edmund Muskie, in the Congressional Budget Office, and as an editor at the Pentagon. Following her retirement, Nancy pursued her passionate interests in farm fresh foods and gourmet cooking. She was a strong advocate for breast cancer awareness. Nancy is survived by five cousins and their families, as well as lifelong friends. A graveside service will be held in Pennsylvania at a later date. Donations may be made to George Washington University Breast Care Center; FreshFarm Markets, Inc.; or World Central Kitchen.
