On Tuesday, April 7, 2015, beloved husband of Sarah G.S. Horne; father of Valerie Horne Robinson (Adrian) and Odean Horne, Jr. (Brenda). Also survived by five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one sister, and two brothers. On Tuesday, April 14, 2015, family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time at 12 noon at Shiloh Baptis t Church, 1500 9th St., NW. Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery. To the Horne/Robinson Family: Deacon Horne will always have a special place in my heart. He was in the first watch of deacons when I joined MBC and personified what a deacon's job is. Truly a great Dad, Granddad, and good Christian man! I got his sense of humor and I think he appreciated that. He will be missed and I'll miss sending him the occasional "Thinking of you" card. God be with you as you journey through this valley; my prayers are with you.

To Deaconess Horne and family;
I am grateful for the opportunity to have met Deacon Horne. He was always kind and kept me on my toes as I worked in Metropolitan Baptist Church. We had a running joke after asking him to join us singing prior to one Men's day.He would say he was 'waiting to do his solo'. I know the he is now among the angels preparing to sing his solo for God....Thank you family for sharing him with us

Deacon Odean orne, Sr. was one of the greatest men I've known in my lifetime. A father, mentor, adviser, and a servant of the living God. He will be missed, but not forgotten. God's got a good one in the kingdom.

Deacon Horne was one of a kind. One of the last of the "old guard," who taught us all how to be deacons! "I don't want to see anyone reading your prayers when it's your turn to
pray", he told our deacon class. "Let the spirit lead you" He left a legacy at Metropolitan and he will be missed!

We are so saddened at the passing of Deacon Horne. What a wonderful person we've lost! But we celebrate his transition to eternal life.
My parents and the Hornes were servants together and friends. Our families have traversed many milestones together, and for that we are ever grateful.
We will never forget his generosity towards Terence, giving him his first robe as he entered ministry, and attending his installation in his first church in Baltimore.
He was never without a smile of greeting.
Please know that we are praying for all of you, that you will find comfort in precious memories and peace in the days ahead

I am so saddened by the passing of Deacon Horne. The Horne Family has been a close connection to the O'Neal Family since I was a child. Deacon Horne always referred to me as his "other daughter" and I loved him like a dad. May God grant the Horne Family comfort and peace at this time and know that we will always cherish his memory. Like so many who helped raise us back in the day, he will be remembered with a fondness and appreciation reserved for those who were part of my Metropolitan "village." My condolences on the passing of Deacon Odeane Horne Sr. He was a towering figure during my youth. I admired Deacon Horne, Deaconess Horne, and all their children, especially Odette (May she rest in PEACE. I had a schoolboy crush on her. She handled me with aplomb and gentleness [smile]). I wish incredible BLESSINGS during this time, and happiness for Deacon Horne. He has gone to meet GOD.
