I remember dinners at our house and a game of "pitch" afterwards. Msgr. McGready was a kind and caring priest. He touched our lives in many important and caring ways.

1975 schoolyard: A group of us were gathered at the far side of the parking lot and some were smoking cigarettes. All evidence was easily hidden by the time Father had approached us.
"Good morning boys".
"Good morning Father".
"Seems rather chilly this morning."
"Not so bad, really."
"It might be more chilly than you realize; I could plainly see your breath from across the lot."
"Maybe it'll warm up a bit and you won't see it anymore, Father."
I don't recall them ever trying to sneak cigarette smoking after that.
Once remember laughing so hard when Frs. Mahady and McGready were referred to as "Maheedy and Greedy". He never minded a good joke and did have our respect.
