PAGE WILSON Obituary

PAGE HUIDEKOPER WILSON  (Age 99)
A long-time Washington resident, human rights activist and writer, died peacefully in her home on August 19, 2017. Much admired, with friends of all ages and backgrounds, recent accomplishments include her memoir Carnage and Courage, being on the board of the David A. Clarke Law School of University of District of Columbia and the advisory board of the Frameworks Institute. From 1938-40, she worked on the staff of Ambassador Joseph Kennedy in London. From 1940 until her first marriage in 1943 to Frazer L. W. Dougherty, she was a reporter for the Washington Times Herald. In 1957, she married Thomas W. Wilson Jr. They share her four children, his three stepchildren (and partners), many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Among her proud deeds, she did public relations for the 1963 March on Washington and walked with Martin Luther King in the 1965 Selma March. The family will hold a wake on August 23, and a memorial in the fall. Contributions can be made to United Nations Association of the National Capital Area or for a scholarship in her name to the Clarke Law School.
