On Monday, June 18, 2007 of Laurel, MD. Beloved mother of Mark Goodnight; cherished grandmother of Christopher; devoted daughter of the late James and Rosie McCoy of Pittsburgh, PA; loving aunt of Aisha Richard, Jonathan McCoy and Jason McCoy. Friends may call at HINES RINALDI FUNERAL HOME, 11800 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, MD on Wednesday, June 27, 1 to 5 p.m., where service will begin at 5 p.m. Interment service at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA on Friday, June 29, 1 p.m. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to National Science Teachers Association, 1840 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA 22201-3000. You will be greatly missed. We're remembering the motherly talks, photos, lunches, dinners and gatherings with my family. We will cherish those memories for ever.
You were one of the most aspiring women I have ever met and I owe my confidence & achievments to you. I will pass on your giving, and hard work ethics to your Godson Aaron.

My deepest sympathy to Pat's family. I remember fondly her friendship and guidance when I was first getting into teaching on the elementary level at John Eaton ES. She was a great mentor and a wonderful friend.

I am so sorry to hear of your tremendous loss. I have often heard of Mrs. Goodnight's professional skills as a teacher, and I know that she was greatly loved and respected by so many others in the science teaching community. I wish I had known her better. I offer the family my sincerest sympathy.

To The Goodnight Family,
We, the staff and family at River Terrace Elementary School would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to our beloved colleague, Ms. Patricia Goodnight. She was a jewel among jewels during her time at River Terrace teaching our students the foundation for science education. I personally, would like to comment on how she made my novice years at RTES as an educator memorable ones. I had the opportunity to visit with her during her illness. Remember, that the Bible states, "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."

The hopefulness effect Ms. Goodnight instilled in me was life changing. She assured me I was someone worthy. I never had that until I was fortunate to be one of her six grade students at John Eaton Elementary. Even though we had not seen each other in over 17 years she's always been on my mind. It makes me smile and at peace when I think of her.
Thank you Ms. Goodnight for loving me. You taught me so much more than just reading and writing. May you be sliding and gliding in heaven...
