Patricia Lucas, known as "Pat" was an older sister to two of my longest and dearest friends Garfield and Julie (Jones) who I met in 1968 at the recently demolished Randall Jr High School in Washington DC. Pat was like one of my big sisters who was always welcoming as if she went to school with us, and knew all the precious, unforgettable stories. Her infectious smile always warmed my heart, and reminded me of Mother Jones who also lived life to the fullest. RIP Pat. Thanks for sharing your love with so many...we'll miss you!

Family, time will ease your heart because Pat is in there and will never leave as long as you live. As neighbors, we are grateful for the many seasons of our lives that included one of God's earth angels. Pat was our friend, neighbor, supporter and comforter in our time of need. We will not forget her goodness and and willingness to help whenever it was needed.

Patricia and I met in the kindergarten at Giddings Elementary School, located 4th &G Streets SE. I can remember going into her home at the corner of 5th & G having lunch that her mom Mrs. Jones prepared. Then we went Randall Jr High together being in 7th grade section 7-4, 8-4 and 9-2. Patricia was a very mature young person coming during our. As they said she loved to have fun and enjoyed life. Remembering when she returned back to DC from Minnesota being pregnant with daughter, she so happy because weather conditions there. The last time I spoke to was April of 2017 when I lost my sister. I will keep your family in prayer and thoughts.

With deepest sympathy to your family. Hold dear those memories that God has so graciously placed in your heart. Her beauty radiated from the depth of her soul, truly touched by His grace. May God hold you in His loving arms and give you strength. Love lasts forever.

My sincerest condolences to the Lucas Family.
I worked with Pat for many years at the U.S. Department of Education. She was a committed and strong employee, always encouraging and positively guiding the younger team members. Pat has always greeted me with a big smile and a sincere hug, saying “hey sweetie”.
From your former colleague, Rest in Peace ”Sweetie”
Sincerely

I started knowing Pat in 1984 when I met her sister Julie. Julie and her husband Desmon moved here from Washington, D.C. in 1984 and me and my two boys moved here at the same time. We never knew each other in Washington, D.C. and found each other in Charlotte which was like finding diamonds! When we found Julie, we found Pat. We never met in person until a few years ago, but always talked on the phone to her or sent messages to her through Julie. It was like talking to another sister of mine. She had such a wonderful personality and made me feel like I had known her for years. I felt even better when I found out we shared the same birthday. That was so awesome. A few years ago we had the priviledge of going to Maryland and getting to meet Pat and Jerry in person. It was such a treat to get to talk to the wonderful person that I had been talking to on the phone for the past 20 plus years. She was just as sweet and friendly and funny as she had been when we talked on the phone. Pat I am so glad that I got to meet you in person and spend those wonderful hours that we had at your home. I could always hear your smile on the phone and was even more glad to see your smile in person. I know that you are up there in heaven smiling down on everyone, especially your loving family. I know that you will be truly missed, but you will always be in my heart with that wonderful smile. Rest in Peace Pat because heaven has just gained another angel!!

My heart is aching as I write these words, you were a one of a kind special lady, I have so many memories over the years, but what I admired the most about you is how no matter what you were always smiling and brightening any room you entered. Say Hello to Everyone for me and Rest in Heavenly Peace until we meet again.

Mrs. Patricia (Pat) Selena Lucas, An Angel from Heaven whose love for humanity and inspiration for everyone was relentless and contagious. Pat never met a stranger and always treated everyone with tender loving care and kindness. If she had it and you were in need, there was no hesitation to gift you with love and grace. Pat is and will be missed, and a loving void in so many others lives. We Love You Pat, so very much, and the joy you brought to those who knew you. We are forever grateful for your friendship and mentorship. Rest in Peace!

Pat, Words cannot express how much I love you, I can only find relief in knowing that you are with Momma, Daddy, Sharon and Lil' Jerry! I know that they were as surprise to see you...as we were to see you go. Please know that we will be together again someday and until then...I love you to the moon and back...
