CADORET, PAUL ALBERT

PAUL ALBERT CADORET, 68, a retired DC taxi driver died April 23, 2004, at the Hospice of Washington after a lengthy illness. Born in Woonsocket, RI, the son of the late Arthur and Florence (Danis) Cadoret, he lived in Woonsocket until he entered the Air Force in 1957. Mr. Cadoret's overseas tour was in Korea after the Korean Conflict. After he was honorably discharged, Mr. Cadoret began his career in restaurant and hotel management. From 1964 until 1982 Mr. Cadoret was responsible for and successfully managed operations of restaurants, nightclubs, hotels, and retail liquor stores throughout the metropolitan area. In 1987, Mr. Cadoret became a taxi driver where he quickly developed a devouted and regular clientele. It was a job suited to his talent of conversing with people and being out in the city he loved. Mr. Cadoret retired from driving in 2003. Mr. Cadoret was an avid reader and enjoyed the arts, travel and model trains. Evenings, whether entertaining at home or in a local establishment, Mr. Cadoret enjoyed the cabaret life. He was a well loved, friendly face for years in Dupont Circle, Adams Morgan and Capitol Hill establishments. He befriended everyone and enjoyed sharing his positive outlook and love of life with the people he met. In recent years, he enjoyed cruises and trips to Las Vegas with friends. In his experience life was always "marvelous." Mr. Cadoret is survived by his partner of 26 years, William (Billy) Newell; an aunt, Beatrice Jylkka of Woonsocket, RI; a sister, Claire Parrent of Blackstone, MA; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Katherine Cadoret of South Kingstown, RI; and several nieces and nephews.
