Of Arlington, VA, died Friday, February 20, 2004 at Arlington Hospital, Arlington, VA.
Mr. Diehl moved to Arlington County from Prince William County in 1936. He was a member of the Arlington Church of the Brethren. Mr. Diehl was a former dairy farmer and later worked at Thompson's Dairy in Washington, DC. Later, upon retiring, he became a self-employed painter and repair contractor.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 67 years, Jeannette Matthews Diehl, in 2003; one son, Stanley Diehl, in 1938; two brothers, Roy Diehl, William Amos Diehl, and one sister, Hazel Virginia Keys.
Survivors include three children, Phelps Diehl of Arlington; C. Barton Diehl of Alexandria, VA; Elaine D. Lucas and her husband, Joseph Lucas, Jr., of Arlington; one sister, Mary Johnson of Nokesville, VA, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 24, 2004 at PRICE FUNERAL HOME, 9609 Center St., Manassas, VA, where services will follow at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2004, with Rev. Roseann Harwood officiating. Interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Nokesville, VA.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of flowers or contributions to the Nokesville Church of the Brethren, 13002 Fitzwater Dr., Nokesville, VA 20181, in memory of Paul Phillip Diehl.
