I knew Paulette (and, of course, Stan) only through a weekly tai chi class. Today at a tai chi event I learned of her passing.
Paulette was helpful those of us who knew far less than she, and she was kind. Once when she asked about my 90-plus-year-old mother and I likely shared the challenges, in a soothing, calm voice, looking warmly and directly in my eyes, she said, "At least you still have your mother."
So right.
I think of her words, understanding, and kindness often.

We are so sad. We had our gourmet dinner last night, Saturday, here at my house. This group has been doing this since 1972! We had such a great time. Paulette, our traveling buddy for years made the appetizer of a strawberry lettuce salad. It had to be just right and she made sure it was perfect! She assembled the salad and served it. It was wonderful along with all the other yummy dishes. We sat and talked till around 10:30.
What a wonderful time. Can't believe a few hours later she left us. Life is so precious and there are no given.
